Even though Facebook holds the supremacy for the world’s most successful social network, its ‘younger sister’ Instagram still wants to show that it means business as well. Exactly ten years ago, on October 6th, 2010, Instagram was launching. Celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Facebook-owned app needed an important move, and so it came.
Changing the home screen icon for Instagram is easier than ever now, as the social network added a bunch of new icons.
How to get the new icons
Getting your hands on the new icons for Instagram is relatively easy. You’ll just have to go to the settings menu from the app and perform a swipe down on the screen for some emoji to occur. Once you’ve swiped down, the icons are free to grab.

An Instagram message says:
“this month we’re inviting you to change your app icon to your favorite,”
This is a strong hint that the icons will only be available during October, but we have all the reasons to wait for more.
Instagram remains a reliable app, and its Play Store description confirms it:
“Bringing you closer to the people and things you love. — Instagram from Facebook
Connect with friends, share what you’re up to, or see what’s new from others all over the world. Explore our community where you can feel free to be yourself and share everything from your daily moments to life’s highlights.”
As the Facebook social network is doing great when it comes to the number of people using it – over 2.6 billion monthly active users – Instagram doesn’t fall short too much, as it currently counts one billion people that have an account on the platform. We have all the reasons to believe that these numbers will even grow in the near future.
