Fans of the famous actor Samuel L. Jackson can now hear his voice as a response to some of the questions they ask Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant. This feature was announced during Amazon’s huge hardware event from three months ago, but was introduced recently.
The possibilities are pretty limited at the moment, unfortunately. Nevertheless, this might be one of Amazon’s little experiments, which, if it turns out successful, might motivate them to partner up with celebrities and make a few extra bucks out of Alexa.
Unfortunately, the amazing voice of Samuel L. Jackson doesn’t come freely, but it costs $1 to activate it (plus tax). However, this is arguably a good price for hearing Samuel L. Jackson read the news, the weather and even tell jokes when asked to.
First of all, users must understand that this feature doesn’t fully replace Alexa’s voice with the one of Samuel L. Jackson. Instead, users can tell Alexa to “ask Sam Jackson” for something.
Without further ado, this is how to set up the feature:
First, say: “Alexa, introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson”. Then you will be prompted with a 30-second introduction clip. Alexa will let you know that the feature costs one dollar plus tax. If you decide to buy it, say “Yes”. Then you will be asked if you want clean language or explicit language.
Here are some of the things you can hear Samuel L. Jackson say (via Alexa):
“Alexa, ask Sam Jackson to tell a joke.”
“Alexa, ask Sam Jackson to sing jingle bells.”
“Alexa, ask Samuel for the news.”
