Kodi is a great multi-platform that offers a genuine experience and some of the best features. Like Android updates, for example, we wait for the release of new Kodi versions because it adds fantastic new add-ons and deeper integration.
Unfortunately, Kodi doesn’t have an in-built update system, so we have to update it manually. We have put together a list of everything you should do to update Kodi on your device. Here is what you should know.
Update Kodi on Your Android Device
Kodi is officially available on your device’s Google Play Store so that you can update it easily. And even if you installed the Kodi APK from the official website, you can still update the current version to the most recent build via Play Store.
Access the Google Play Store, search for Kodi, and open it. On the page, you’ll notice if there are any updates available. Just tap on the update (if any available), and that’s it!
Update Kodi on Your iOS Device
Unfortunately, Kodi is not available on the App Store. But, that doesn’t mean you should give up installing Kodi and update it. You have to rely on the power of the third-party app stores.
Once you find a trustworthy third-party app store, download Kodi and install it. To update the app, you will have to follow the same process over and over again. So, yes, it could be not very pleasant.
Update Kodi on Windows
You can update Kodi through the app’s official website or via the official Microsoft Store. The update process is straightforward, and if you choose to update Kodi via Microsoft Store, you don’t have to download any separate installer. You can check the store for new updates and install them with only one click.
However, if you use the traditional way (updating Kodi from its official website), you should follow these steps:
- Go to kodi.tv on your favorite browser and select the build from the menu;
- You can find your PC’s architecture easily; right-click on My Computer and open Properties (see if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit type);
- Install Kodi on top of the actual Kodi setup; all your add-ons and repository will be kept.
Update Kodi on macOS Efficiently
Kodi is not available at the moment on the Mac App Store, so you need to download the updates from the official website. The update is straightforward, so you don’t have to worry. Try the following steps:
- Go to Kodi’s download page for macOS and choose the Installer (64BIT); the latest DMG file for Kodi will start downloading;
- Open the Installer and click on the Applications folder;
- Press CMD+V key into the Application folder and replace the old Kodi variant;
- Enjoy the new update!
