Sony is planning a huge press conference, and it seems every leak and rumor points towards the day of February 5th as being when the PlayStation 5 and other secret things will be unveiled.
However, those secrets might have just been leaked and either spoiled Sony’s surprise or caused even more hype. We are talking about the PlayStation VR 2 headset that could be announced at the same event where the PS5 is unveiled.
Sony has not yet sent invites to the press and has not confirmed anything about the event, but according to a new report, we might see the PlayStation VR 2 headset there. And it makes sense – the PS5 will have great capacities, which means a new PSVR could take advantage of the specs.
According to Tech Briefly, a financial report from the Apollo 11 VR and Titanic VR developer Immersive VR Education Ltd stated that that fact:
“In 2020, Sony will release PlayStation 5 and a new version of the PlayStation VR headset (PSVR), which will further expand the high-end VR user base – the group intends to support this device with its current software package.”
PlayStation VR 2: Eye-tracking, Wireless Connectivity, and More
These are all the details about that new PSVR headset, aside from what Dominic Mallison – Sony’s senior vice president of R&D stated last year about the future models: eye-tracking, wireless connectivity, and other features.
Considering we have seen a bunch of leaks about the PS5 and absolutely nothing on the incoming PSVR 2 headset, it is a bit odd. However, it is also a suggestion that the next-gen PlayStation VR device would be launched after the PS5 reveal.
Maybe we will learn more about both PlayStation 5 and PSVR 2 at the Ps5 launch event, which will take place in less than two weeks.
