iOS 13.5 Beta 3: Apple Joins the Fight Against the COVID-19 Pandemic – See What’s New

Unfortunately, the United States is the hardest hit country by the dreadful COVID-19 pandemic. With over one million infected people and over 60,000 deaths, a lot of restrictions and postpones are occurring in the USA. Therefore, various companies are doing their best to fight the pandemic somehow or at least protect their employees.

Gaming companies, for instance, are offering free games for people in order to encourage them to stay at home as most as possible. On the other hand, Apple has a unique way to fight the pandemic with its 13.5 Beta 3 version of iOS.

The Face ID function works even with your mask on

Wearing facemasks during the pandemic is a very common practice, as experts say that this simple measure will significantly reduce the number of COVID-19 infections. Therefore, Apple makes it possible with its upcoming update to unlock an iPhone via Face ID even when you have your face mask on. Why take even that minor risk of getting infected or spreading the disease, when you could simply avoid it permanently or as long as you’re using an iPhone? Or you can just simply unlock the phone by some other usual method like tapping a code, but wearing the mask is practically mandatory!

Notifications for COVID-19 exposure

The good news doesn’t stop for those who want to see Apple fighting the new coronavirus. The SDK and API will allow some developers to create apps that will be helping in contact tracing those who are infected with the new coronavirus.

Also, there will be a toggle within settings for disabling COVID-19 exposure notifications. Disabling these notifications on the new iOS version is very simple:

  • Go to Settings
  • Select Privacy
  • Head for Health
  • Select the COVID-19 Exposure Notification and toggle it off

Apple will release iOS 13.5 in the next several weeks alongside updates for Apple TV, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac.
