iPhone 12 Might Launch With 120-Hz ProMotion Display

While iPhone 11 series mostly maintained the same design line of the predecessors, except for the squared frame for the rear cameras, iPhone 12 is rumored to bring the significant design change that the fans expected this year. Even more, some recent rumors suggest that iPhone 12 would launch with the 120-Hz ProMotion display.

At the moment, only Apple’s iPad Pro lineup enjoys the ProMotion display with refresh rates of 120Hz, so if the technology will come in the 2020 iPhone series, it would represent a considerable upgrade over the current 60-Hz screens.

A Taiwanese website is behind the new rumors. The Digitimes online technology magazine reported that sources close to Apple think that the Cupertino-based company would indeed produce iPhone 12 models with the 120-Hz ProMotion display technology. But there’s more! In comparison to the current ProMotion screens boasted by iPad Pro tablets, which are LCD, the iPhone 12 would come with OLED technology.

Why is ProMotion important you may ask? Well, users fall in love with the immersive GUI experience that ProMotion has been offering since 2017 when Apple introduced the technology in the 2017 iPad Pro model. A ProMotion display provides more realistic images and is also more intuitive during usage because the technology increases the responsiveness of the displays and lowers their latency.

The introduction of a 120-Hz ProMotion display with OLED technology in the iPhone 12 models would be a significant upgrade over the current iPhone 11 series. But, also, this addition might slightly increase the production costs for the 2020 iPhone smartphones, that resulting, eventually, in higher prices.

We will get more details about the iPhone 12 in 2020 since now it’s still too early to know precisely what features the future device would sport. And there’s enough time for rumors and leaks because the iPhone 12 smartphones won’t launch before September 2020.
