Just yesterday, an impressive seven different Nokia smartphones received security updates. The number is constantly rising, as Nokia Mobile is going to roll out Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 2.1’s update for June regarding the June version. The update package for Nokia 5.1 is 112 MB large, while the update is 110.9 MB for Nokia 2.1. The update is currently available almost all round the globe, including in South Africa. If you are in one of the countries where the update will appear, it will pop up on your device very soon.
This Nokia update will bring the Google Security Patch 2020-06 to Nokia phones. As with all major updates, users have been advised to use Wi-Fi if possible to download any updates. Should users choose to use Cellular Mobile connection, users are notified that downloading data over a Cellular Mobile Network, even in a Roaming environment, could lead to more charges at the end of the month. If users are not sure about their data cap and they want to download the security update, they should first check with their network provider.
Users of both the Nokia 3.1 and the Nokia 5.1 have been waiting for this update for Android 10 for a very long time. While these two have been waiting for a very long time, it is also worth noting that users of phones such as the Nokia 2.1 and Nokia 1 have been waiting for something else. They are holding on for the Android 10 Go update. The Android 10 Go update was initially scheduled to appear on June 2020, but this upgrade to the OS of the device has been delayed. We currently hope that it arrives this month. Despite all that, the Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1 and the Nokia 2.1 are going to get the June security update soon, unlike the Nokia 1.
