The best selling smartphone of every single quarter of 2019 is also, surprisingly, one of the more expensive smartphones of the year.
Believe it or not, the iPhone XR was the best-selling smartphone in Q3 2019, which means that it was also the best-selling model every quarter of the year so far, Counterpoint Research says.
The device was launched midway through Q4 2018 and it didn’t top the lists that quarter, but, almost a year later it detachedly beat the base model of the iPhone 11 in numbers.
Apple’s standpoint
The tech giant said that the iPhone 11 managed only fifth place in its own launch quarter:
Apple adjusted the pricing of the iPhone XR (in China) in order to furthermore raise demand during the quarter.
The iPhone XR captured a surprising 3% market share and it contributed to more than one fourth of the total Apple sales of the quarter, meaning that it was the best selling Apple model across all regions.

As you can see, Samsung have pushed buyers up through their range but only because they lowered the prices of their formerly “mid range” A series models to become the new entry-level phones.
Xiaomi had a single showing in the top 10, thanks to the affinity of their Indian customers to the Redmi A7. India contributed to more than half of the total sales of the device during the quarter.
