4 Methods to Prolong the Life of Your iPad

Why wait for your iPad to show signs of slowing down when there are things you can do to extend its life.

The expectations we have for a gadget, be it an iPad or iPhone, to continue working never seems to match up with reality. Apple’s iPad is one such device with a long life expectancy, but sometimes, you find yourself struggling with slowdowns or alerts that your storage is full. The following tips and tricks are perfect if you want to give your iPad a quick tune-up.

Stay Updated

Apple frequently launches software updates that enhance the overall performance, introduce new features, and fix bugs. Installing the updates will keep your iPad’s operating system smoother and more secure.

Turn on automatic updates in Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates, and slide the switch to On.

Add a Keyboard and Trackpad

If your iPad’s display is starting to show signs of slowing down to touch interactions, try attaching a keyboard and trackpad. Such a thing will work only if your device is running iPadOS 13.5 or newer.

Eliminate the Unused Apps

Begin by viewing which apps are taking up the most space on your iPad. Go to Settings > iPad > Storage and wait to analyze the storage. You’ll notice a list of all installed apps and how much space they’re using.

Go through the list and delete all the apps that you don’t want or use anymore. Set a reminder to do such a thing once in a while!

No More Battery Issues

From disabling any unnecessary connections, changing the display brightness, to limiting which apps refresh in the background, you can try many other things to save your iPad’s battery.

According to Apple, the iPad’s battery will perform best if you avoid using it in hot or cold environments. So, anything hotter than 95 degrees Fahrenheit (36 degrees Celsius) can damage the battery.

Using your iPad in an environment with a temperature lower than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) will also affect the battery.
