WhatsApp ‘Protect Backup’ Is Reportedly Under Testing Now

Reports about WhatsApp’s recent plans have been unveiled. The instant messaging service has released a new beta update available on the Google Play Store. The update has introduced a bunch of features to those users who enrolled in the Google Play Beta Program. These new features are supposed to be rolled out to the last and full variant of the app soon.

WhatsApp Latest Update Details

One of the striking changes in the upcoming update is dubbed “protect backup.” As the title suggests, this option protects your online backup with the introduction of a password at your choice. Notably, this update is currently under testing and is yet to be released soon, according to WABetaInfo. It is significant for the Facebook-owned messaging app to introduce such a feature.

The security-related option that will allow users to protect their backups was a necessary element. According to a report, the backup option is in the alpha stage of development.

If you choose to backup your data on WhatsApp, the upcoming Protect Backup will allow you to secure the Google Drive backups safe with a password at your choice. But, if you lose or forget your password for the WhatsApp backup, you won’t be able to restore the history anymore.

Currently, there are no other details about the feature. However, the report states that this won’t be a must to do option and you can choose to disable it if you want from the WhatsApp Settings.

Other Sleek WhatsApp Features and Details

Besides the Protect Backup, the messaging app is working on introducing some significant aesthetic updates for the iOS variant. The new appearance seems to feature a long-press or slide feature on every WhatsApp text for creating shortcuts such as to reply, star mark, forward messages, and copy. We can hope the upcoming redesign would most likely introduce a WhatsApp bet update soon.
