The Windows 10 May 2020 is now available as Microsoft has started the rollout process. Microsoft has been hard at work on the update, which comes with a long list of important features that will make the life easier for users.
Below you can find a curated list of some of the most useful or important updates.
Windows Sandbox changes
Windows Sandbox was introduced in 2019 via the 1903 update, and it has been appreciated by many Windows 10 users. The tool offers the ability to launch a virtual machine that runs a simplified build of the OS without the need to run or download additional content.
The latest update introduces support for configuration files, microphones, and the option to enter or exit the full-screen mode by pressing CTRL+ALT+Break.
Now compatible with Wi-Fi 3 and WPA 3
A great boon is the addition of official support for Wi-Fi 6 and WPA3, the next Wi-Fi standard, and the protocol which is used to connect to Wi-Fi networks. Both protocols come with security improvement against some of the most common attack types.
Enhanced Windows Hello
Windows Hello is one of the most popular authentication protocols for PCs and laptops that run Windows 10. It allows users to login by using face or pringerprint recognition, or a PIN if they prefer to avoid biometric security options.
The latest update will allow users to login with Windows Hello when the system is booted in Safe Mode, but this option has to be enabled manually.
A handy Cloud Recovery feature
In the past, users who wanted to restore Windows 10 to a fresh state had access to a single option: Reset this PC. This option initiated a local reinstall with the help of existing files. A new Cloud Recovery option will offer the ability to download the latest files from Microsoft, which will reduce the need to install other updates when the task is completed.
